Enigma codes are used
to tease the audience and engage them in the narrative so they carry
on watching the film. Certain enigmas are included in the opening
such as puzzles about why there has been a bank robbery , and the reason behind why some of these people have covered there identity and have masks, in order complete tasks, these ideas and thoughts of these questions, are left unanswered
about so that the audience could watch on and find out why this is happening. In the opening the
audience would identify symbolic codes such as the colours on the clown mask represent a scare/fear towards the audience making them feel scared and also identify that the joker is also the antagonist of the film.
The audience can see that the character is wearing are wearing suits or casual wear, however the joker masks shows a prominent piece of prop, which will make it memorable for the audience to think about the antagonist, so its easier to identify them throughout the film. Also some of the codes and conventions of an action film fit this film and can be identified for example there is a typical bank robbery to start the film off with as an enigma for the film, also there is a lot of use of weapons, and fights, which all have been seen throughout the opening scene.
