Target audience

The typical target audience for an Action film would be for teenagers and males, aged between 12-25. This is because the film has a certificate of a 12-15, maximizing the youth audience. A lot of action film which appeal to that types of audience because they can either relate to the familiar locations which are more modern, as they can relate as they have been there before. Also another convention is that there is a lot of weapons and explosion which would appeal to that more of the male audience, as these have been filmed and edited at a fast pace, which then creates more tension with the non diegetic sound, so that the target audience can create tension inside them which will make them more engaged in to the film, which would allows them to escape out of there everyday situation. Also there is a lot of violence and fight scene which would appeal to a male audience, as they are more interested in these types of elements of this genre. From the pearl and dean website under the film fast and furious,we see that the target audience for this film is between the age range of 15-45 mostly, with more male audience watching this film than females, this shows a typical convention as men would be more interested in action, as there is a lot of action and fight scenes, and the use of weapons, which could intrigue the male audience for them to go and watch it. Another thing from this is that more of the middle class/student types of people went to see fast furious, this shows it probably one of the most popular films. This is because some of the setting in this film may be more appealing to them as they maybe more familiar with it.
