Sound is very important within a romance film to help set the tone mood and atmosphere. Non-diegetic music is used to
reflect the narrative events such at the beginning we hear a very feminine, sassy non diegetic sound of a women as the man is working out. The non diegetic is effective; allows the audience to find out bits of the protagonist's personality. He comes across as very self centered person as he works out in front of a mirror, connoting that he admires himself, and take a lot of care of himself. So the non-diegetic sound compliments it as the lyrics singing about 'loving yourself and no one else' showing that some characters may show this personality, which may reflect the narrative of the film. Diegetic sound is used in the
dialogue between the characters it. So we see the what is the protagonist i.e the man giving a speech about why he should become the green committee. The tone on his voice connotes that he seem very relaxed and self confident, knowing that he is mostly likely going to be chosen because of his appearance. The diegetic sound is also shown a voice over introducing the protagonist name, Kyle Kinson. This makes him seem more dominant, and shows that his looks have a lot of power over the crowd. Kyle gives his speech, but give very irrelevant information about the topic, which is about the environment, as he refers to be talk about himself, as he compliments himself, and make the crowd automatically agree with what hes is saying. The crowd cheering is another aspect we see of the diegetic sound, so showing praise, which allows the audience to be apart of, making them seem more involved in the film. afterwards the crowd are cheering for him and then a we hear some foot step noise or sound of heels, introducing another protagonist, the sound of the heels shows that she will be against Kyle and show and antagonist in the film. After the speech the protagonist starts complaining about the women, who walked out from the room, showing a strong dislike, and may connote that it could also lead to problems between them both. he then has two others who try to get it out of his head, by telling not focus on it so much, connoting that it could possibly cause problems, that may lead to him not getting that position of being in the committee. then we see that that some of the posters of him trying to promote himself, but have been drawn all over, which makes him angry and the women starts talking about the committee and asking weather its right for him to enter this committee, connotes that she is trying to make him seem really pointless, which the audience can agree to. After the women refers to Taylor (Vanessa Hudgens) getting her involved as she is entering for this position as well, it also shows her personality, as she didn't want to get involved, but knows its not right that he has entered, but tries to deny it, to stay out of it, there own argument. however the women talking, mentions that people should open up there minds and do the right thing. then leaves a state saying "wow looks are important to you" which gives the audience something to think about, which may show what this film is about and what it is focusing on.

| CLOSE UP |

| LONG SHOT |
A close-up shot is
used to show the character facial expressions, so as Kyle is talking about why he should be nominated for being a part of the committee, it focuses on on his face showing his enthusiasm, and self confident about knowing that he will be nominated, as he uses his appearance to gain attraction from the crowd. The close up shot does this as it shows a flawless look of the protagonist, which makes the audience make intrigued to watch on and to find out more he wants to do. The camera blurs to show the location and then focuses to show a close up of the protagonist, This connotes that he maybe look at a huge career path, and as he is looking outside the window showing that he may want to change something about the world/country. Establishing shots have been used in different familiar locations, and the camera cuts quickly from shot to shot showing different locations which the audience may be familiar with. Establishing shot is present as the audience is shown that the film is set in a high school, establishing that the narrative will take place here as we see that here is a speech for being a part of the the committee, to represent the school. This could also appeal to a younger/teenage audience as they may relate to some of the narrative events which takes place. Tracking shots have been used to follow the action which happens within a scene, as the women walk out and ruins kyle's posters, we see him coming out and he seemed very angry, but the camera follows him along with his girlfriend and his assistance, the medium shot which goes with this shows that his girl friend and the assistance aren't as dominant as the follow him quickly and try and calm him down. Long shot has been shown to show where the setting of the film is going to take place as the snapshot is being shown. This effective because it show how much power Kyle has with his appearance that attracts the audience and the crowd. The power he is showing, has been shown as everyone is listening to what he has to say and agreeing with it as they, as his appearance is what gets most people in school.
The main characters
are introduced in the opening scene when the male protagonist is being introduced of him getting ready in morning, and him doing a workout in the morning, showing his masculinity, and links to a conventions of a romance film as they tend to have attractive male protagonist, which the audience will focus on during the film, with the narratives. The dialogue which the male protagonist starts talking about, which is about himself, which makes him seem very egocentric about himself as it looks like hes very confident with what how want and uses his appearance and wealth as a bribe to get people to do what he wants. Other character has been introduced during the opening, but the audience aren't sure who she is, as she doesn't look like fits in with the school, and she has been represented a goth/emo look, with her make up and costume, being all dressed as black. The colour black represents darkness, or a hidden identity, or secret, which may leave an enigma for the audience to find out later on in the film. She also shows how she hates kyle and for what he has said during the speech, as she makes him seem pointless, as what he has said has nothing to do with the green committee, and tries to establish that through ruining his posters. so the camera shows this through a lot of close ups of her facial showing her hate for him, which shows that they may be enemies throughout the film. Also she seems as if she has started the film with a statement about prioritizing peoples looks. Taylor is another protagonist that the audience meet during the opening, she comes across as very shy, but still when for running to becomes apart of the green committee she watches the others argue but doesn't retaliate as much, and also shows that she thinks that Kyle isn't right for the position, but doesn't really say much about it. we are shown a medium shot of her, as she stands awkwardly just watching what is going with everything, but keeps track. With this the audience can recognizes that they are the main characters through the use of the
dialogue/camera shots/events that they are involved in.
The audience can see
that the male protagonist is wearing a suit this shows that he is show class and wealth and showing that he has confidence that he can win this election with his appearance. As seen in the opening we see Kyle taking a lot of time on his appearance, as he thinks he will win this election with his looks. this
is typical of the genre because it shows that main protagonist is attractive during the film, which the audience will continue to follow throughout the film as a lot of the camera will be focused on him and how he gets his own way. The audience can also see how the two female protagonist have been dressed. A women dressed all in black, suggesting that she may have a some sort hidden identity, with the makeup, heavy eyeliner, making her eyes seem very prominent to her whole face, making her seem as shes someone to watch out, she could be shown as a threat to people. However Taylor has been introduced as very casual teenage girl, who comes across as very socially awkward. Also this could tell the audience that she could also be the female attractive protagonist, which the male protagonist may soon go after, which links to a convention making the couple present in some state, but can leave dramatic irony, as the audience know that they will get together later on, but the character don't.
