Preliminary task

During the task we were practising using some of the rules of filming, which included match on action, shot reverse, and the 180 degree rule. what went well, was that we included 3 different types of filming rules, and the narrative of the film was very short, but the shots fitted quite well together, this was successful because the we used a variety of shot types, including long shot of the me walking towards the door, then we had medium shot of when having the conversation ,with Hayley and Matt. The different parts of the clip fit well together as we edited together when using the crop tool during the editing, to take out behind the scene during the filming, so that the audience can follow. Another thing that went well was using the 180 degree rule during filming as we were able to get the all the shots on one side of the action line which makes the the interaction more believable as the camera stayed within the 180 degree arc, but the position was changed within the line. The shot reverse shot was present and i though was successful, because the camera position was place in the right place behind the character who is listening, which is a over the shoulder shot. Match on action also went well, because we were able to capture the same action, but at different angles and putting them together during the editing, they fit very well, as this will allow the audience to focus on the action at another angle, showing continuity.

Some problems that occurred during the filming was that the speech flowed too quickly, so making it sound too quick, making it seem quite fake, to improve this we could make sure to film another footage, and look back at the old one, and look at direct changes that could be made, so for example taking a breaths when talking or have the speech, so it allow the conversation to flow, so that audience can hear what is being said. Also we had experienced that the background was moving a lot, which shows that the camera was not held steadily, to improve this we could use a tripod, so that the camera can stay still at one point.

During the editing we has to cut out a lot of the behind the scene directions, and we had film more than one footage of the scene, to make comparison of which footage looked better in terms of lighting, and the types of shots that we experimented with, to see which one would suit the best with our film. We also used a black out at the end, as one of the transitions to end the scene. We also put some complimenting music in the background, which we had put to cover the fact that speech was too fast.
